The medal is meant to be worn by actors and actresses to help them as they perform, to help them to get work, and to remind them of the importance of their craft. I designed and carved the original and cast the medal in lead-free pewter. The medal comes on an 18-inch chain with lobster clasp. It comes in a jewelry pouch with a history card stating the following:
"In the midst of a skit meant to mock Christianity before the emperor Diocletian, who despised the religion, Genesius, a pagan actor, had a revelation that the part he was acting and Christianity were real and true. When the men playing 'soldiers' in the skit 'arrested' Genesius and, jesting, took him before Diocletian, Genesius announced to the emperor that he had become a Christian. Diocletian, enraged, then proclaimed what may be the harshest theatrical criticism in history: he had Genesius martyred. This lead-free pewter medal was handmade by Hank Schlau at In the Co. of Saints."
Dimensions of medal: 1 inch x .5 inch
