I designed and carved the original and cast the pieces by hand in lead-free pewter. Can be pendants or used on a key chain (the medallion comes with a split ring: see packaging photo) or attached to a bike. Each comes in a pouch with a history card stating the following:

"Medieval legend says Count Ghisallo was one day chased by robbers, took refuge behind an image of the Virgin Mary, and was spared. A shrine at the site in northern Italy later became a spot where cyclists would rest and ask for protection. In 1949, Pope Pius XII proclaimed Our Lady of Ghisallo the patron of cyclists. The site is now part shrine and part cycling museum. Services are held each Christmas Eve and on the Feast of All Souls to commemorate cyclists and their sport. This small medal was carved by Hank Schlau and cast by hand in pewter."

Dimensions: 1.25 inches in diameter
