This handmade piece is meant to be given to a mother, to show her that one wishes her to be watched over and supported. I design, carve, and cast the medals myself. The medals are made of lead-free pewter and have designs on both sides. Each necklace comes in a felt jewelry pouch with a history card that states:
"A guardian angel is one assigned to guide, protect, and inspire a particular person. Belief in guardian angels extends throughout all antiquity and is explicitly developed in both the Old and New Testaments. This medal has a guardian angel holding a child on the front and, on the back, a triquetra, an ancient Celtic symbol that refers to the Trinity and also here to the protective link among God (guardian angel), mother, and child. The medal was handmade by Hank Schlau."
Dimensions of medal: 1 1/8 x 5/8 inches.
