This handmade medal is meant to be carried or worn by musicians or other performers, to give them support and encouragement. I designed, carved, and cast the piece. It's made of lead-free pewter. Each medal comes with a jump ring (so it can easily be put on a necklace) and with a split ring (in case someone wants to put the piece on a key chain). The medal comes in a jewelry pouch with a card stating the following:
Cecilia was a fourth-century martyr. Her association with music and musicians stems from a story about her wedding feast. The story tells that at the celebration, as wedding music was playing, Cecilia tuned in to a higher level of art: she heard "celestial music," and thus became the patron of musicians and all who love music. Many performers–ranging from Luciano Pavarotti to Aaron Neville of New Orleans–have been known to ask St. Cecilia for guidance before they begin a performance. This medal of Cecilia was designed, carved, and cast by hand by Hank Schlau at In the Co. of Saints. It is made of lead-free pewter. On the front, Cecilia plays; the back gives her name, surrounding a clef.
Dimensions: 1 inch high x .75 inch wide
