A handmade medal on a chain of St. Fiacre, patron of gardeners, meant to be given to gardeners to be worn, to remind them always of their garden (literature, after all, abounds with depictions of gardens as refuges, as paradise...). I design, carve, and cast the medals myself. The medals are made of lead-free pewter and have designs on both sides. The medal comes on either an 18-inch or 24-inch alloy chain with a lobster clasp. Each necklace comes in a felt jewelry pouch with a history card that states:

"After ordination, St. Fiacre (d. 670) established a hermitage in Ireland, but word of his holiness spread, and disciples came. He fled to France, where a bishop offered him use of all the land he could till in a day. Fiacre miraculously used his staff to till acres. He built a hermitage with a garden and lived a life of hard labor, tending the garden and feeding pilgrims and the poor. Thus he became a patron of gardeners. This medal, handmade at In the Co. of Saints, depicts him at work in his garden and is meant to be a reminder to fellow gardeners, no matter where they are, of the peace that awaits them in their garden."

Dimensions of medal: 1.4 (h) x 1.1 (w) inches
