Handmade Medal of St. Maximilian Kolbe, Patron of Addicts, Those in Recovery, and Those Who Help Them. I design, carve, and cast the medals myself. The medals are made of lead-free pewter and have designs on both sides. The pendant comes with a jump ring (see photo 1), so it can easily be attached to any chain you have. This listing is for the pendant alone, but it does come with a split ring so it can also be used on a key chain (see photo of packaging). Each medal comes in a felt jewelry pouch with a history card that states:

"Maximilian Kolbe was killed in Auschwitz in 1941 when he volunteered to take the place of a father and husband who had been chosen for execution. During his months in the prison camp Kolbe had been 'a beacon of faith to his fellow prisoners, encouraging them to pray and counseling them against despair.' He is thus a sign both of compassion and of hope in times of suffering. He is the patron of addicts, those recovering, and those who help them in part because he gave his life to encourage and accompany people trapped in a kind of darkness. This medal was handmade at In the Company of Saints."
