I designed, carved, and cast the piece. It is made of lead-free pewter. Each pendant comes with a jump ring attached (so it's easy to put on a necklace). We also include a split ring, so, if you wish, you can use the medal on a key chain. And each comes in a jewelry pouch with a card stating the following:

St. Stephen (died ca. 35) was the first Christian martyr and one of the seven chosen by the apostles to serve at table, to oversee the distribution of alms, and to help in the ministry of preaching. Because of these roles, he became the patron of deacons and altar servers. Stephen was martyred, by stoning, in Jerusalem after he gave a defense of his faith (Acts 7:2-53). At the end of his defense, he looked up to heaven and saw Jesus standing at the right hand of the Father. Before he died, he asked God to forgive his attackers. Stephen’s story is thus one of service, example, and compassion to all. This medal was handmade at In the Company of Saints. The palm fronds on each side of Stephen, who looks toward heaven, are a symbol of martyrs. Stephen was often depicted holding stones; he thus also became the patron of brick and stone masons.
