This medal, handmade in Covington, Louisiana, depicts St. Isidore of Seville, the patron of IT Professionals, Scholars, and Scientists. I design, carve, and cast the medals myself. The medals are made of lead-free pewter and have designs on both sides. The medal comes on either an 18-inch or 24-inch chain with a lobster clasp. Each necklace comes in a felt jewelry pouch with a history card that states:

"St. Isidore of Seville (560-636) is the patron of IT professionals, scientists, and scholars because he codified all then-available knowledge into a system (a primitive encyclopedia, a database). Isidore not only possessed towering erudition but also rigorously investigated reality himself, coming to understand that each thing and creature is part of a spiritual and physical 'worldwide web of things.' Further, Isidore was a compassionate archbishop of Seville. In short, he had great knowledge and a big heart. He worked to spread knowledge and to help others. This medal shows Isidore compiling his vast web of knowledge. It was handmade at In the Company of Saints in Covington, Louisiana."
