A handmade medal of St. Fiacre, patron of cab drivers and delivery drivers, meant to be given to drivers to be carried, worn, hung from a rear-view mirror, to protect them and help get them good fares and tips. I design, carve, and cast the medals myself (see last 3 photos). The medals are made of lead-free pewter and have designs on both sides. The pendant comes with a jump ring (see photo 1), so it can easily be attached to any chain you have. This listing is for the pendant alone, but it does come with a split ring so it can also be used on a key chain (see photo of packaging). Each medal comes in a felt jewelry pouch with a history card that states:
"The connection of St. Fiacre, a 7th-century Irish priest, to the patronage of taxi and delivery drivers takes a loop through 17th-century Paris. The story: around 1650, the Hotel de Saint Fiacre began hiring out carriages. The carriages and later cabs in Paris began to called 'fiacres,' and, by association, St. Fiacre became the patron of all cab and delivery drivers. The front of this medal, handmade at In the Co. of Saints, depicts Fiacre tending a garden (he’s also the patron of gardeners) and blessing a fiacre in the distance. The medal is meant to be worn or carried by drivers to bring them safety, good fares, and excellent tips."
Dimensions: 1.4 (h) x 1.1 (w) inches
